Rough Cut

As it was decided by me and my partner that the shooting and other camera work has to be done by me and she would later handle the editing while I'll make the poster and the movie review page so our work was divided and she continued working. While there were parts were I contributed to editing as well like adding background score, special effects and transitions were added by me when all the final selection, cropping and reordering was done by Abira.
I used various editing tools like cross fading, audio gains and levels of speed in the music and their levels of volume.
After all the finalization was done we faced a major obstacle which was our film was 12 minutes long and there were no more scenes that could be cropped out to reduce the duration so we had to cut a major scene out of our movie which was previously a part of our film. The scene of a street vendor selling things and buying fruit for his children to make them happy.
After cropping that scene out which was one of my favorite because it was colorful and the focus points used in that were very different and interesting.

Test shots

While i was on work my partner Abira took some test shots and evidence shots to show examiner how things appeared to us and how they were shown o our audience in the final Film which was produced by us.
Se was always with me, helped me directing the shots while I kept busy in brainstorming and thought of various shots to shoot my film.
Also she captured behind the scenes while I dressed up the characters before shooting.

Evidence Clicks.

During the start of the production process,Abira and I divided our duties. As I was good with the workings of the camera, she took control of the shooting while Abira assisted in the setting, lighting, acting and the other aspects of the shooting procedure including taking evidence pictures while I worked. We took test shots wherever they were required.

Last Shoot scene 4 (flashbacks) Withe

Today we decided on completing our shoot finally. All we had to do was reshoot the Jamal shot which we had done wrong and complete the Hammad's flashback shots. So we firstly did the flashback shots whereby one was to be done in my lawn while the second one was to be shot on a road. Flashback 1 required directions to  Hammad's on-screen father in terms of body language and Flashback 2  was to include a 180 degree rule which required a series of over the shoulder shots to get the right continuity in the scene. We managed both of these shots as Abira helped in directing Hammad and his father while I shot and Abira instructed.
Abira (my partner)

When we moved on to Jamal's scene we faced a major obstacle which dealt with the broken table that could no longer be used as its top had eroded owing to heavy rainfall. We used an Art board to overcome this, however the art board required fixing if Jamal was to stand up from it to prevent it from falling down. For this, Abira supported the table with her head so as to prevent it from falling while I was on the camera.

Shoot 4. Day 4. Scene 5

This was a completely outdoor shoot. We had decided on doing this scene on the road in a purely natural way however, roads were risky and to be realistic, working naturally with a camera at hand was more than likely to put off people or strike their curiosity levels so much so that it effect our shooting. So we put off that idea and decided on going to another spring festival where we were likely to find many people. As we went therein we were able to see many people but the crowd was a riot. Shooting here meant crowd management on a second level and this time we were six young girls and one young boy only so we rejected this place too. We then thought of places where we could find a good crowd and sufficient room for shooting without any crowd issues. So we went by the Quaid-e-Azam Public Library which was linked to the Lawrence Garden. We got lucky as we came here because crowd was expected to be a major constraint here as well, however the availability of students from an arts institute attracted all the attention and we went by our shoot smoothly.

Shoot 3. Day 3. Scene 1, 3, 5.

9) crowd management a major constraint.

While shooting scene 3, we were able to complete the shoot smoothly and withing 15 minutes as it didn't consist of any camera angles, shots or movements. However, the first problem we faced was the refusal of the teacher to be shot in camera. For this, we required an immediate teacher who could substitute so we consulted the academy owner for help and he provided us with a teacher of just the same nature. Then was the trouble of directing the students on how they were to take turns, answering the teacher and responding to her with the right body language and confidence. Once this was done, we had everything ready. As it was a daylight shot, the effect of a make-shift institute was easily created. And our shoot went perfectly well.

Shoot 2. Day 2. Scene 4.

Planned to do on the next day. Loadshedding didnt allow it. Did it after two days. The flashback in the shoot needed a third shooting. This third shooting couldn't take place owing to the unavailability of the actor, Hammad.

Shoot 1. Day 1. Scene 2. Jamal and Surraya

The first day of our shoot was a very rainy Saturday and Abira and I were very uncertain about whether to shoot in this weather or not, considering that the location we'd be shooting in was a barely sheltered one-room house. As we were on a shooting schedule and our classes had resumed to give time for shooting, we decided to discuss this with our media teacher who told us that this weather was effective only if our shoot was outdoors. An indoor shoot with minimalistic light wouldn't be effected by this rain. Hence, despite a gloomy weather, we tromped off the back alley opposite my house.

Upon reaching our location, we realized that the entire room had to be shifted so as to make sufficient space for around 8 people. That chaarpaai's therein had to be moved out. the lights had to switched off. The youngest of the family was sleeping; she had to be waked up. Bedspreads were then spread out over the floor so tour cast could sit on it. Our own lighting had to be put up in specific places so as to ensure sufficient lighting for our shooting. Abira assisted  in the setting of the room while I adjusted the lighting to her own specifics. Meanwhile Abira directed the rest of the cast as to how we were to proceed with the shoot. When all was set, it was already quite late as we had little time left with the load-shedding and late hours of the night. We began on with our shoot.I was on the camera while Abira took the lighting and the rest of the cast in control so that all went right. We faced trouble with space and the lighting as  both were very limited as per our scene's requirement. At first we tried using the tripod, yes, a very helpful tool it sure is but as we had less space, our handling of the equipment was largely perturbed, hence I decided to go without it and handheld the camera for the rest of the shoot.Space was quite an issue as roaming round for the confirmation of shots was very difficult however we did manage and got some really nice, effective shots with the right expressions and body language. Our establishing shot required a lot of nearness to our actor, Jamal. However lack of space hindered our mobility and we were restricted by many degrees. Our first shot, owing to no prior experience, took a lot of time and infinite takes and retakes. Yet, as we went home and rechecked all our sots, we realised that we had made a major blunder in of our major two-second shots, without which our shot wouldn't look good. Now, this was a major trouble as a two second shot would actually require so much work on set and location that we'd be wasting one entire hour. Doing it there and then was not a choice as it was a little too dark and I had an academy to go to. Hence, we decided upon doing all our major retakes, at the very end. One major problem we faced pre-production of our scene, was the working of an old lantern that i had dug up from somewhere. It required a wick and oil, however the lantern had rusted so much over the years that getting through inside the lantern was quite difficult. However, my brother took it to the market and got it fixed in due time of the shoot and our issue was resolved.

Ancillary Task: Poster (Analysis)

The first thing the audience see looking at this poster is the word SALT that is the movies name as it is wrien bold and big. It names the person think about of what does salt means in refer to he movie. It could be he Characters name or it could be referring to the actual salt or something to do with salt.

Also Angelina Jolie's name is also made very prominent here and its the only name mentioned for cast. It might be possibility that she's the main character of the movie with other supporting characters. Also Angelina is worlds reknown and established actress and her fans looking her individual name would capture their attention in a glance. This would draw audiences in and make the film more credible as many people would be intrigued to see what Jolie's new film is like after having been familiar with many of her previous films.

Furthermore, Angelina Jolie's picture is on great significance  the fave expression tells the audience a story. The deep eyes and timid colors can make audience depict several things.

Furthermore, Angelina Jolie's picture is on great significance  the fave expression tells the audience a story. The deep eyes and timid colors can make audience depict several things. This image is taking advantage of Jolie's attractiveness in order to sell the film and to appeal to the male audiences that may have initially been put off the film as the protagonist is a woman. The all black outfit suggests that Jolie is wanting to go unnoticed and may be undercover which is informing people of the narrative of the film.

The use of an orange/brown/white colour pallet makes the film neutral to both genders so it appeals to wider audiences.

The tagline also leaves an impression on the audience to really get to know about who salt is?
Furthermore it just tells us about the year when the movie would be released creating more curios impact on the audience.

This movie "Snow White And The Huntsman" has prominant cast such as Kristen Stewart,  Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron which are mentioned in bold right above the Movie's title.
This movie poster also follows the simple codes and conventions of any film poster.
The three main characters of film are shown to the significance of the film that is the wicked witch , the snow white and the huntsman.
Also there are black crows shown in the background which also signifies as death or negativity.
The actor/actresses names are displayed under each character shown on poster. Under this the title is written, which is in the same place as the other posters I have analysed. Below this is the typical details section in that distinctive writing. It also says ‘From the Producer of Alice in Wonderland’; this may attract a wider audience as people who enjoyed watching that may want to watch this also.
The color palette is mainly dull. Blacks and greys are used only the title is bright to outstand.

Film poster for American Beauty released 1999. One of the most simplistically beautiful film posters I saw during my research. The flesh of a white woman accompanied by the rose not only plays on people’s perspective of beauty, but it adds a soft tone and controversy towards the subject. The small serif type font in white adds an elegance to the tone. And the ending “Beauty” in bold emphasizes beauty, meant to pop out and grab the audiences’ attention. I don’ agree with Annette Bening being a part of the poster but because I feel this film is based of Kevin Spacey’s character, or IS Kevin Spacey’s character. But the symmetry adds to the effect of being beautiful since most believe beauty based on symmetry. Despite the fact that this poster doesn’t represent the movie and its content, it at least represents a large portrayal of what the general population finds to be beautiful therefore coming to an almost universal agreement.
